DSB Print

Everything under the same roof

What is the best way for a graphics company to prepare an exit strategy?

The best barometer for customer satisfaction, more specifically the efficiency of finishing/delivery, quality of the products delivered and overarching administration is still… the customer themselves. So, just after the takeover, the new owners of DSB Print organised a customer survey. They quickly discovered that, despite a 100% satisfaction score on quality, the virtual absence of an MIS system was one of the most urgent improvements the company needed in order to further expand the service.  This was because customers were often asked to collect the orders themselves, so there was also room for improvement in logistics. In addition, quotations and calculations were still prepared on the basis of price lists at the company from Ganshoren. This obviously gives little insight into the production costs, let alone the final profit. Here an MIS system was a missing element to build and support the further growth and strategy of the company. For Tanguy Serraes and Bram Lavens it quickly became clear that a fully integrated administrative workflow to oversee and manage all this was more than necessary. And then the crisis struck ...

Traditional company

DSB Print is a traditional company specialising in screen printing, pad printing, ceramic printing, embroidery, laser and other special finishing. The company from Ganshoren has a very extensive range of machinery. This makes it possible to print on virtually all types of materials, regardless of shape. They are active in a large number of advertising sectors and also regularly carry out work on a subcontract basis for fellow printers. The 10-strong team has the far-reaching knowledge to combine different printing techniques and assignments. As a result, projects can be regularly realised here that other printing companies are rather reluctant to undertake. Unfortunately, their approach to administration was also rather traditional. However, the support of a good MIS is necessary to steer a company’s strategy, growth and future in the right direction. The new owners of the ambitious printing business acted immediately!

The way forward

On the recommendation of business partners they heard about Dataline and thus MultiPress. They immediately recognised it as the right solution for their new company and its successful future. MultiPress comes with a number of undeniable advantages:

  • The business software is modular and extremely flexible. For example, there is the possibility to start small, allowing MultiPress to grow with the needs of a graphics company, according to the specific requirements and the budget available.
  • The software is quickly implemented and delivers swift results, usually within a month.
  • It is easy to use, especially over time. In this way, it is possible to constantly discover new possibilities that undoubtedly offer further perspectives for the future.
  • Due to its modular nature, a graphics company only uses and pays for the functionality that is necessary and desirable at that time. MultiPress streamlines and accelerates business processes, allowing a quick ROI. If an extension is desired later, only one or more modules need to be activated.
  • In MultiPress it is perfectly possible to include special printing and finishing forms in a fully automated workflow.

Never waste a crisis

But what do you do when the Corona crisis hits the graphics industry and by extension the whole world?

Bram Lavens: ‘At DSB, we don’t like to waste time. We want to get started with MultiPress as soon as possible and in the meantime fine-tune everything. We want to be ready once the economy gets going again. In short, the ideal exit strategy!’

So, thanks to remote technology, the Dataline Project Managers are busy with implementation, guidance and training. DSB Print will thus emerge stronger from this crisis, ready for the future!
