Ateliers Cassandre: from fragmented tools to one streamlined workflow with Unik Web-to-Print

For a print business with a thirty-year history, moving towards full automation is a major strategic step. For Ateliers Cassandre, the goal was clear: modernise its internal operations without losing the expertise built up over the years. Lauréane Février, business development manager, reflects on the transformation the company has undergone since implementing Unik.

Ateliers Cassandre is one of the larger digital printing companies in the Paris region. With XXL printing for events, retail, signage and other print businesses, speed is essential. In the past, however, the company relied on a mix of different tools, spreadsheets and separate calculations. Since switching to Unik, Web-to-Print, order management and production have all been brought together in one streamlined workflow.

Digital XXL printing demands speed

Ateliers Cassandre is based in Wissous, just outside Paris, and specialises in large-format printing. The company serves customers in the events, retail and signage sectors, while its extensive XXL printing capacity also allows it to work as a subcontractor for other print businesses.

This combination of high volumes, a diverse product range and tight deadlines places considerable demands on the company’s internal organisation, particularly when a customer submits an urgent job just a few hours before production needs to start.

Before switching to Unik, the team worked with several different systems and files. Information had to be brought together manually, calculations were carried out separately, and employees were not always working with the same data.

Lauréane Février, business development manager: “Today, everything is in one platform. All the information is centralised, shared and much easier to access. Everyone works with the same tool and speaks the same language.”

From email to printer in two minutes

For Ateliers Cassandre, one of the biggest changes is the speed at which jobs now move through the business. A request no longer needs to pass through multiple systems and departments before production can begin. Orders and production information are processed centrally and made immediately available to the technical team.

This is particularly noticeable with urgent and express jobs. “If a customer asks me to print something within two or three hours, I can have a job approved and get it from the email to the printer within two minutes.”

This shorter turnaround time does more than save time. It also reduces manual handovers and ensures that the production team receives the right information more quickly.

Web-to-Print as an extension of the workflow

For Ateliers Cassandre, Unik is more than an internal order management system. Web-to-Print allows customers to connect directly to the same digital workflow.

Through a simple online interface, customers select the product they need and provide the required information. This allows orders to enter the production process more quickly and in a more structured way. “It’s a very simple Web-to-Print interface where customers can simply specify which product they need.”

For a print business handling large numbers of recurring or standardised print jobs, this means less administration for the internal team and a simpler ordering experience for the customer.

A system that grows with the business

According to Lauréane, one of the main reasons Unik works so well for Ateliers Cassandre is the flexibility of the platform. Rather than imposing a rigid process, the system can be configured around the way the company actually works. She compares it to Lego: “It’s incredibly intuitive. It’s made up of building blocks that you can combine, move around and build together with all kinds of other elements.”

Fewer errors and more time for customers

Ultimately, the biggest benefit goes beyond having faster software. By spending less time collecting, re-entering and passing on information, the team can devote more attention to its customers. “Today, we have a smooth and efficient tool that saves us time. That means we can focus more on our customers and on the advice we give them.”

For Ateliers Cassandre, the move to Unik was therefore above all a change in the way the company works: from a collection of separate tools to one digital workflow connecting customers, orders and production.

Modernising without unnecessary complexity

Introducing a new system always involves change. According to Lauréane, that change is often the biggest hurdle for print businesses. But continuing to work in the same way as before also carries risks. “What ultimately puts people off is change. But Unik helps companies make positive changes.”

Her advice to other print businesses is therefore clear: companies that want to modernise their organisation and make their processes faster and simpler need to be willing to consider a different way of working. For businesses looking to connect Web-to-Print with their internal order and production workflows, Ateliers Cassandre shows what becomes possible when all those processes come together on a single platform.
