At FESPA 2023 in Munich, the European Digital Press Awards were presented, the most prestigious professional awards in the digital printing, publishing and packaging industry. Dataline was also among the winners again this year, this time for its innovative MultiPress CO2 Calculator. Dataline thus receives its fifth EDP award in four years.

European Digital Press Awards: professionals decide

Every year since 2007, 21 leading European trade magazines for digital production technology have evaluated the latest developments in solutions shaping the digital printing, publishing and packaging industries. The best products in their categories, both software and hardware, are awarded an EDP Award.

On 24 May 2023, 17 awards were presented at FESPA 2023 in Munich. The awards are divided into the main categories of software, printing systems (large format and commercial print jobs), finishing processes, measurement and calibration, robotics and consumables. The 2022 entries included more sustainability tools than previous editions, with connectivity and automation being the main themes for all suppliers.

MultiPress CO2 Calculator: sustainability and innovation

Among the impressive list of winners, Dataline's pioneering MultiPress CO2 Calculator stood out as an innovative solution. Or, as the competition's Technical Committee put it in the jury report: "The Dataline MultiPress CO2 Calculator solution meets the demand of an increasing number of customers who want to make their operations more sustainable and indicate the carbon footprint of print jobs for a given order in advance. The MultiPress is the only print ERP/MIS software that combines European regulations and guidelines with accurate calculations at quotation and order level, regardless of the volume, application, substrate or production technology used. It also helps printers and converters assess their own carbon footprint."

This module was added as part of the latest MultiPress update, MultiPress 5.4 Polaris. To achieve this, Dataline entered into a 'Certified partnership' with het Dienstencentrum. The methodology used is based on the standard for calculating CO2 emissions issued by Intergraf. Intergraf is the professional association that promotes and protects the interests of the printing industry at European level.

This advanced tool demonstrates Dataline's commitment to always finding answers to the questions of the European printing industry. The MultiPress CO2 Calculator not only incorporates all production processes into the calculation, but also provides valuable insights into carbon footprint measurement. This allows print businesses to communicate precisely to customers who can thus make more informed decisions for a greener future.

The module is already being used by several MultiPress customers. Toner de Presse, for example, discovered the CO2 calculation module during a Dataline webinar. Didier Gilson explains: "We have always been very sensitive to the environmental aspect of our business activities and believe that the demand for transparency in this area will increase, both within our customer base and in the market in general. This certification will strengthen our position with certain customers."

Industry recognition

The recognition from the European Digital Press Awards further strengthens Dataline's position as a software innovator in the European print media industry.

Dirk Deroo, CEO of Dataline, is proud of this achievement: "Our fifth EDP award in just four years is a tremendous honour for Dataline. This recognition demonstrates our tireless commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation in the print industry. We are proud to provide print businesses with tools that streamline production processes while providing valuable insights into carbon footprint determination. This award is a validation of our developers' strategic insight and our team's hard work. This recognition once again adds lustre to our industry-leading position."

With a consistent track record of pioneering solutions, Dataline continues to set new standards of excellence and drive the evolution of the digital printing, publishing and packaging sectors. The other MultiPress tools awarded in previous years are another example of this, such as the Installation App, the e-Calculator, MultiFlow and the MAS Audit software. The company remains committed to pushing boundaries and providing print businesses with advanced technologies that redefine the possibilities of the printing industry.

About European Digital Press Association

The European Digital Press Association was founded in 2007 by 6 trade magazines with a special focus on digital technologies. The publishers of these 6 trade magazines, Desktop Dialog from Germany, Image Reports from England and Ireland, Italia Publisher from Italy, Plakativ/Print & Publishing from Hungary, ProDigital from Spain and Portugal, Publisher from Switzerland and X-media from Austria came together to form an association of trade magazines with a main focus on digital printing. Today, the EDP Association has 21 member magazines from across Europe, covering 27 countries and reaching more than half a million readers (print editions only).

One of the stated goals of the EDP Association is to help users find the right solutions for their applications. Meanwhile, the EDP Awards are highly regarded in the market and are a strong point of reference. Each year, experts from the EDP Association evaluate the latest technologies and product developments in categories such as hardware and software, large format printing, commercial printing, industrial solutions, finishing processes and consumables. The best products in each category are awarded an EDP Award. Since 2007, the EDP consortium has presented around 390 awards for the best technology and product developments - this year, 26 awards will be added to that number.

About Dataline Solutions

Dataline Solutions knows what print media companies need to streamline their processes, automate their workflows and increase their profits.
