Expansion of machinery at Drukservice Impressa

Drukservice Impressa in Herentals has installed the SCREEN Truepress JET L350UV SAI S. With this new digital label press, they aim to grow in the segment of digital label printing. The SCREEN Truepress JET L350UV SAI S is a digital inkjet label press suitable for producing high-quality and durable labels and packaging materials. With UV inks that cure quickly, the machine can print high-resolution labels, making it suitable for the production of labels with colorful designs and sharp images. It is also designed to handle materials of various thicknesses and sizes, making it flexible in production options.

"We invest in digital inkjet technology because it allows us to quickly produce small to medium-sized runs, which is crucial for our customers," says Tom Bongaerts, the CEO of Drukservice Impressa. "For our customers, including those in the food industry, we wanted to expand our production from cut paper labels and product wraps to self-adhesive roll labels."

The production of the printing company relies on MultiPress ERP/MIS, which ensures smooth coordination between the printer and finishing equipment.

How does this connection work?

The connection is established through a specific template structure filled with pre-calculated variables. With this connection between the Screen press and MultiPress ERP/MIS, print files for a label in MultiPress can be forwarded correctly and print-ready to the digital press without further intervention from prepress or other software.

This has the following benefits:

  • Prepress workflow integration: the administrative order information is automatically translated into the correct preparation for actual production.
  • Press/print workflow integration: enables order data to be sent directly to the printer. All information about the paper or substrate, the print run, and ink coverage is immediately available, reducing setup times and production times.
  • Afterpress workflow integration: order information from both prepress and the printing department is directly available to the finishing operators.

Automation in print production is advancing. Thanks to the innovations and integrations in MultiPress, the printing company can be managed by the order manager with little further intervention. This increases speed, reduces errors, and lowers production costs.

A noticeable shift in demand

Shifting demand is causing a stir at Drukservice Impressa. With a revamped strategy, a state-of-the-art machine park, and the top-notch automation with MultiPress ERP/MIS, they're ready to meet their customers' rapidly changing needs. As CEO Tom Bongaerts puts it: "Our clients want their labels to be customized and delivered at the speed of light. This is because of 'just-in-time' marketing objectives and also because they have to respond to ever-changing labeling regulations," explains Tom Bongaerts. "The time when food producers, or any brand owner, ordered one label for the entire European market in large quantities and kept it in stock is over. To meet the demand for smaller, short-term print runs, digital inkjet printing is the way to go."
