MultiPress 5.4 Polaris: your print production under control with time registration!

1 November 2022

Time registration should be an everyday part of every print media company's daily routine. This simple step provides you with everything you need to analyse and optimise your workflow. And this optimisation is necessary: after all, the competitive print media landscape demands that your business processes run as efficiently as possible. In this short blog, we tell you how time registration in MultiPress has been revamped with update 5.4 and explain the benefits.

NEW FEATURES

Blog time registrationTime registration in MultiPress has been an important follow-up and costing tool in many versions of our software. In version 5.4, a number of refinements have been made, making this registration tool even more powerful:

  1. Registration of print sheets and pallet cards: with the print sheet registration, you know per section how long a job was worked on and on which machines. The same applies to the customised registration of pallet cards, which quickly shows the next steps in the production process for each section
  2. Folding sheet registration: for complex printing jobs that incorporate various folding forms, it is useful to register the folding sheets separately. This way, the finishing or bindery knows exactly how many of the printed sheets have also been processed into quires
  3. More than time registration: registration is now more than just passing on the production time: the operator can pass on information about the material consumed
  4. Automatic stock write-off: during registration, stocks are automatically written off if information about the material is added. This is particularly useful as it enables direct administration on the production floor, without any additional intermediate steps

Time registration lets you predict productivity

Thorough time registration not only gives you a precise picture of the actual time worked per order, section or folding sheet, but also offers the following advantages:

  1. Optimise throughput times, stock management and material consumption through proper and complete registration. And by gaining insight into your workflow, the processing of deliveries goes a lot faster. Visualise your team's progress on each project or task. Keeping track of expected hours, effective hours and improved planning on tasks has never been easier.
  2. Plan your teams across projects, plan ahead for upcoming projects with forecasts based on similar projects and estimate deadlines more accurately. Compare forecasts with real timesheets for greater profitability
  3. Time tracking in MultiPress is browser-independent and therefore accessible from anywhere with an internet connection, fixed or mobile. This registration tool is controlled from the planning department and sends a task list from each machine to the production department or to a specific operator
  4. Get an overview of your billable time. Track all work hours and resources allocated to your project and see your profits and losses.

A working solution

In theory, it is simple: record all hours and all materials per job, and you have full control over your print production equipment. Practice, however, is much more complex and requires a thorough and flexible approach. MultiPress has mastered this topic for many years, and recent refinements allow us to effectively visualise the entire production flow for any print production process, including material consumption and machine utilisation.
